We are a nature-based private school located on one acre of land in the quaint township of Eden Mills, ON., within walking access to trails, waterways, forests, farmland, and a beautiful park and playground.
We offer a holistic educational journey for elementary-aged children that is curriculum-informed and rooted in experiential, hands-on, arts integrated and land-based learning. We keep our class sizes small (1:8 ratio) with two teachers per class so we can provide our students with rich learning experiences and build a deeply caring school community.
We offer a full-time program while also serving the homeschooling community with our part-time options.

The landscape of education is changing and a growing number of parents are saying, “NO!” to large class sizes, teacher shortages, hours of sitting, the overuse of technology, and a lack of outdoor time. Consequently, in the past few years, homeschooling has more than doubled, and there has been an exponential shift across North America with the founding of new learning pods, microschools, and holistic private schools.
Walnut Forest Academy came to be in response to parents seeking alternative education. These parents unanimously wanted their child in a school where they would love learning, belong to a heart-centred community, and would thrive in every way possible.
We listened, and our doors opened in the fall of 2023! We officially became a listed private school with the Ontario Ministry of Education in 2024.
Walnut Forest Academy is committed to providing innovative and enriching learning experiences that nourish the whole child. Our integrated approach to teaching curriculum and life skills helps children develop a deep sense of self, a curiosity about the world around them, and the ability to think creatively and critically so they can experience meaning and purpose in their lives.
