What Is Jouer?
The word “jouer” means “to play” as in choosing to freely engage in a game or activity for the purpose of fun and enjoyment. Play tends to be associated with children as it is an intrinsic part of childhood. However, play is beneficial for the health and well-being of all individuals throughout their lives.
At Walnut Forest Academy, we know play! We have so much fun with our students that adults often comment, “I wish I could go to your school!” After hearing that over and over again, we decided to create, Jouer!
Play For People of All Ages
Jouer! is an immersive experience in nature that invites adults to connect to their childlike sense of awe and wonder. We gently weave mindful, creative, and energizing activities together to take you on a journey where you can be in the moment, experience your senses, lose all sense of time, embrace curiosity, unleash your imagination, feel joy and have fun!
The flow of the day will include sharing stories by a fire in our Walnut Forest, exploring Edgewood Trail nearby, and sitting down to a delicious meal and a hearty conversation. There will be games, art-making, journaling and other playful experiences all with the purpose of connecting deeply to yourself.
Our intention is to raise your level of joy, have you feeling rejuvenated in body and mind, and leave the retreat inspired to play more in your life. We promise this retreat to be a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively!
