Wild Wednesdays
A Weekly Full Day Immersive Experience
Science, Social & Wilderness Studies
We put the “wild” in Wednesdays to take nature learning to new heights.
While our students spend two-thirds of the day outdoors on any given day (with one-third of the day spent inside in our indoor classroom), there is something magical about spending a whole day in our outdoor classroom.
Wild Wednesdays are designed to complement our main program, while also being a unique full-day immersive experience to deepen our students’ relationship with the natural world and our local community. Wild Wednesdays are part of our five and three-day programs.
Wild Wednesdays are science and social studies focused where children delve into life systems, earth and space systems, people and environments, elements of the local community, and so much more! Students also develop wilderness skills, such as building a fire, foraging for food, building a shelter, cooking over an open fire, and learning basic first aid.
During Wild Wednesdays, children are encouraged to . . .
- Celebrate the beauty and diversity of the great outdoors while experiencing their surroundings with curiosity, wonder, and awe.
- Embrace the rhythms of the seasons and forge a lifelong connection to nature to nurture their physical, mental, and emotional well-being
- Engage in risky play to test their physical limitations through thrilling activities and unstructured play.
